ARTZT neuro Symposium 2024 – looking back at an inspiring event
Briefly explained: The ARTZT neuro Symposium 2024 brought together different perspectives on training, therapy and perception. Sports vision, practical case presentations and personal exchange particularly stayed with me.

Perspectives from training, medicine and therapy
At the ARTZT neuro Symposium 2024, I encountered different professional perspectives and practical case presentations. The exchange between disciplines particularly made the event valuable for me.
What I particularly remember
Prof. Dr. Ulf Sobek spoke about personal experiences after a cruciate ligament injury and presented an example involving reading difficulties and colour filters. Such individual case reports prompt questions; they are not a general approach for every injury or reading difficulty.
A personal highlight was Prof. Wolfgang Sickenberger from Jena, my birthplace. His talk on visual function screening in high-performance sport highlighted the variety of visual demands in sport.
Dr. Philip Eckardt added his perspective on movement reflexes and functional relationships. For me, the connection between precise questions and practical assessment was particularly interesting.
Encounters beyond the lecture programme
I was especially pleased to see my friend and Z-Health colleague Reinhold Gruber again. Conversations like these help put personal experiences in perspective and bring new questions home.
A big thank you to Astrid Buscher and the ARTZT team for organisation, catering and the setting for exchange. The generous goodie bag also remains a lovely gesture in my memory.
What I take away
Not every interesting idea suits every person. That is precisely why professional development prompts me to look more closely: which function is assessed, which task should change and how is that checked afterwards?
