Mental systems: what I take away from the training
Briefly explained: My training on mental systems with Dr. Philip Eckardt in March 2025 broadened my perspective on the interaction between bodily responses, distressing experiences, inner images and possibilities for action.

Training that broadened my perspective
In March 2025, I attended training on mental systems with Dr. Philip Eckardt. I was particularly interested in considering bodily responses in connection with inner experience, personal history and context.
The course structure connected biological conditions, physical symptoms, mental symptoms, thinking and interpretation patterns, and action and learning. These ‘Big 5’ offered a map for pursuing different questions in an orderly way.
Why this is more than a topic for conversation
An image, expectation or distressing context can accompany a changed bodily response. From a functional perspective, it can therefore be interesting to compare a well-tolerated starting function under neutral conditions and within a clearly named context.
This does not mean confronting people as intensely as possible with distressing memories. Consent, dose and a safe framework are decisive. Supportive orientation or a neutral reference point can also form part of the comparison.
What this means for my Angewandte Neurofunktion
My work is not limited to movement questions. Perception, regulation, mental relationships and distressing experiences can belong together. I want to remain specific: what changes, under which condition and with which next step?
Trauma-related topics require particular care and professional support appropriate to the situation. A functional response is no reason to attribute a repressed memory or supposed cause to someone.
My personal gain
The training gave me further possibilities for considering relationships in a differentiated way. I find it particularly valuable to ask not just about a limitation, but also about the conditions under which more room for action becomes possible again.
