Six participants, many practical questions
On 10 November 2024, I had the opportunity to deliver a workshop on fall prevention and handling falls at BodyGym Plattling. Six participants explored balance, strength and coordination.
The mix of short explanations and practical tasks provided space to relate the content directly to their own situation.
More than practising balance
We discussed risk factors and tried tasks for leg strength, trunk stability and body perception. Exercises were adapted to individual starting conditions.
Another focus was what helps in an actual situation: how do I respond after a fall? How can I get up again if no injury prevents it? How do I organise support? Practical trials belong in a safe, guided setting.
Assessing your own possibilities better
The motivated participation was lovely. Participants could perceive differences in the tasks and take ideas into everyday life. A workshop does not replace individual fall risk assessment, but can provide a good introduction to greater awareness and targeted practice.
Many thanks to BodyGym for the premises and to all participants for their committed experimentation.
